We host workshops designed for ²Ø¾«¸ó faculty and staff, to build community and collaboration between departments.
Learn MoreJustice, Equity, & Transformation
An inclusive and collaborative approach to fostering cultural transformation at every level.
The Office of Justice, Equity, and Transformation (JET) was created in 2019. Our office and our work embody ²Ø¾«¸ó’s commitment to pursuing a just, compassionate, and equitable learning environment.
We’re dedicated to ensuring that the College considers diverse backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences across all departments and decision-making processes. And we aim to apply an equity lens to all aspects of the ²Ø¾«¸ó experience by leading initiatives to promote cultural change across campus.
But the responsibility of advancing equity cannot be taken on by a single person, initiative, policy, or program. That’s why we invite our entire community to actively participate in making ²Ø¾«¸ó more equitable and welcoming to all. We hope that every one of us can take part in responding to these important challenges, and realize our strength as a community in this work.
We’ve compiled a summary of our progress to keep the community updated and hold ourselves accountable to our mission and our institutional values.
JET’s Mission
Through the transformation of campus culture, the Justice, Equity, & Transformation (JET) Office at ²Ø¾«¸ó aims to guide and lead work that achieves systemic equity across the institution.
Transformative Learning and Teaching
We create opportunities for learning and engaging with different viewpoints through initiatives like our Thriving Classrooms workshops, Anti-Racism Dialogues, and the Tyrone Maurice Adderley Lecture Series.
We invite artists of diverse backgrounds and identities to ²Ø¾«¸ó to share their work and discuss their motivations and perspectives on artmaking.
Learn MoreUnique Pathways to a World-Class Art and Design EducationÌý
For many learners, obtaining a degree in art and design is a winding road — one with plenty of curves and bumps along the way. This is especially true for high school students with limited access to arts education, as well as first-generation college students who need additional support as they adjust to college life. We aid these developing artists and designers through programs like Artward Bound and Compass, which provide local high schoolers and first-generation undergraduates with roadmaps for navigating their arts education.
Retention and MentoringÌý
Our staff and student leaders support curricular and co-curricular retention and mentoring initiatives for students, staff, and faculty. This support is for —Ìý but not limited to — those who identify as ALAANA, BIPOC, DACA, and LGBTQ, as well as international members of our community.
Student Leaders are integral to the achievements of the JET office, its programs, andÌýinitiatives.
